RIBN (ADN/BSN)
Program Description
The RIBN “Regionally Increasing Baccalaureate Nurses” program allows a student to be co-admitted to VGCC and NC A&T State University for 4 years. During Year 1, the student takes general education courses at VGCC towards the ADN and BSN degrees. Years 2-3 are when the student is enrolled in the ADN program at VGCC. The student also takes one online class at NC A&T per semester during Years 1-3. At the end of Year 3, the student graduates from the ADN program at VGCC and proceeds to obtain a license as an RN. Year 4 is completed at NC A&T and results in the completion of the BSN degree.
In order to work as a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in North Carolina, students must complete a nursing educational program and then apply for licensure with the North Carolina Board of Nursing. A component of obtaining a license as an RN or LPN is passing the National Council Licensure Exam (NCLEX). Graduates of an RN program take the NCLEX-RN and graduates of a PN program take the NCLEX-PN.v
